Burbank Pa Kua is offering an exciting roster of summer programs. Campers will spend time practicing and learning many different martial arts skills including archery, long sticks, and swords. These techniques will help campers develop focus, discipline, strength, coordination, and self confidence, all while having fun! We will also have games, obstacle courses, dodge ball, and some chill time too. In 2024, we are offering 4 different weeks, each with a different theme. They are: Stick Week, Archery Week, Sword Week & Battle Week.

This year we are hosting half day camps, from 9am (8:45 drop off) through 12pm. Each week will end with a demonstration.

Stick Week (Long Staff, Bo, Short Sticks / Escrima) – July 1st – 5th (Closed Thursday July 4th) – $200
Learn to spin and strike with a long staff, fight with two sticks, catapult yourself into the air with a stick! Each camper will get their own long stick, made just for their height and size, that they will get to take home at the end of the week. We will have a demonstration at the end of the week for family and friends.

Archery Week (Traditional Chinese Archery) – July 8th – 12th – $250

Learn or return to Traditional Chinese archery! We will learn basic shooting day 1, and then get a little more complex throughout the week ending with obstacles and moving targets!

Sword Week (Chinese Broadsword and dual broadswords) – July 15th – 19th – $250

Traditional Chinese broad sword and dual wielding broadsword. Learn to move, strike, block, and fight techniques. We will have some light sparring with foam swords at the end of the week as well.

Battle Week, July 22nd – 26th: $250

Step into the shoes of your favorite heroes! This week is all about safe simulated combat both one on one and on teams. Think of it as a live action RPG. Battle Week is only recommended for campers who don’t mind the impact of a semi-soft foam sword.  In Battle Week, campers will learn to  develop skills such as respect, teamwork, and communication.

Each camp is held from 8:45am-12pm and is available for kids ages 6-13. Classes take place indoors in our air conditioned studio, except Battle week in which we go to Griffith Manor Park. There will be healthy snacks and drinks. Campers should bring their own water bottle, and extra snacks just in case.

Let us help you get started on your martial arts journey!

Master Mo Williams was born in a small town in Washington State where he spent his days camping, hiking, and backpacking. After moving to Los Angeles, he discovered Pa Kua and it changed his life. He credits his practice with both his physical and mental successes. More than that, he found a home in World Pa Kua that gave him a purpose. Master Williams teaches both adults and kids. He holds a black belt in martial arts and is currently training for his second black belt in weapons. As the newest addition to the team, Master Williams hopes to give kids and adults a safe place where they can discover their true selves.

“You don’t have to feel stuck, you don’t have to let anxiety control your life. We all deserve to be treated with respect and to hold our heads up high. That’s what I want each of my students to understand.”
