Confidence, focus, and respect — built the fun way

Why Kids Thrive Here

More Than Kicks and Cartwheels

Handstands, cartwheels, kicks, punches, and rolls — then partner work with strikes, throws, and takedowns, all in a non-competitive, safety-first environment. Kids learn to fall before they throw, and body control before they grapple.

In a screen-heavy world, physical training teaches what apps can't: reading expressions, body language, and social cues — plus the confidence to prevent bullying and handle conflict calmly.

  • Confidence and self-esteem that show up at school
  • Discipline, awareness & emotional control
  • Safe progression — falling before throwing
  • Martial arts, archery & swords under one roof

Kids Martial Arts Classes in Burbank

Our youth classes in Burbank teach real martial arts fundamentals — striking, self-defense, coordination, and balance — in a structured, encouraging environment. Kids learn to set goals and earn progress through the belt system.

Because Pa Kua is non-competitive, children focus on their own growth rather than beating others, which keeps the experience positive and pressure-free.

Beyond technique, kids explore archery and wooden-and-bamboo weapons under close supervision, which keeps classes exciting and varied week to week.

Every skill is taught with clear steps and plenty of encouragement, so children build competence and pride one achievable milestone at a time.

Beyond technique, classes help children build the confidence to prevent bullying, handle conflict, and manage big emotions. Discipline, awareness, and healthy habits are woven into every session.

Parents often notice better focus, patience, and self-respect at home and at school.

The belt system gives kids concrete goals to work toward, teaching them that steady effort leads to real results.

Just as importantly, kids make friends and feel part of a community, which builds the kind of confidence that lasts well beyond the mat.

Youth classes generally welcome children from around age 7, with younger kids able to join if they can follow instructions safely. Weapons training for ages 7–13 uses wooden and bamboo equipment only.

Instructors are patient and supportive, giving each child the time they need to work through new moves.

Classes are grouped so children train alongside peers at a similar level, keeping things both safe and appropriately challenging.

Families are welcome to watch, ask questions, and even train too — many parents end up joining classes of their own.

Questions

Youth Classes FAQs

What ages are the kids classes for?

Youth classes generally start around age 7, and younger children can join if they're able to follow the safety rules. There are classes suited to teens as well.

Is it safe for my child?

Yes. Safety is built into the curriculum — youth weapons classes use only wooden and bamboo equipment, and instruction is close and supportive.

Will martial arts make my child aggressive?

Just the opposite. Our non-competitive approach emphasizes discipline, self-control, and conflict resolution, helping kids stay calm and confident.

What does my child need to bring?

Comfortable clothing for the trial — long pants and a loose shirt. Uniforms are provided when you sign up, with the first one free.
